After 18 months of leading Nigeria's First Tripartite Hub, it's an honour to write this. As I reflect on the journey of Akure Tech Hub so far. It has been an honour and a privilege to serve in this role, and I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together so far since I was appointed as the Manager.
When I came on board, I had no idea how big the shoes were, or how much impact & responsibility we had in the Akure Tech Ecosystem. Over the years, we have seen the Hub evolve to become more than a workspace into an environment where dreams come to life, people are connected and voices and brands that might otherwise go unheard are amplified.
We have provided many, ranging from SMEs, MSMEs, Startups and their founders, with access and information, and we have done all of these while staying true to our mission of building a thriving community and creating a safe space for its members. Abraham Akpan said in 2021 “In terms of space, we are not the biggest Hub, but in terms of impact, no one can rival us.”
There is still more Akure Tech Hub can do to make the Akure Tech Ecosystem a better place through partnerships, leveraging networks & communities, social innovation and a solid belief in what the future holds for the budding ecosystem. I believe that Akure Tech Hub has a responsibility to continue to innovate and evolve in order to stay ahead of changes and to ensure that we are providing the best possible experiences for everyone within our network. I am truly excited to see what the future holds for the Hub.
I want to thank all of the amazing people I have had the privilege of working with, stakeholders and team members (the heroes who don't wear capes) who ensure through their relentless dedication, that our mission is achievable.
One key lesson I have learnt is that “people can not do their best work under a leadership that presumes their stupidity, their laziness, and their untrustworthiness. People show up the way we expect them to show up - put another way, when it comes to people, you get what you design for.”
Finally, I want to thank all our partners across all our activities; especially the subscribers at the Hub, it would not be the vibrant, diverse, and powerful network that it is fast becoming today. Your passion, creativity, and willingness to engage with one another have made us a strong community worthy of being coveted.
I look forward to seeing where the future takes us. Thank you all again for the incredible journey we've shared together. To many more years of success stories.
